Music Mondays ~ DUELE EL CORAZON

Learning to speak a second language can be made easier through music.  I think it’s important to be able to understand not just words to the song you’re listening to, but to understand the meaning of the words you’re listening too.  I’ve heard waaaayyy too many young children in the pueblo repeating inappropriate words in English to be pretty much stuck on that thought.

I bring to you today on Music Monday a ditty by Enrique Iglesias. Enrique Iglesias, already sounds much better in Spanish than Henry Church does in English doesn’t it?  The video itself was filmed in Panama.  I’m a confused for the reasoning behind using an Aborigine in it. There are plenty of medicine men to be found in the indigenous peoples of Panama.  I guess it’s about artistic interpretation.  I’ve included both the Spanish lyrics and the English translation.  Get going testing the theory about language learning and music!  I enjoyed comparing the two versions and seeing some of the familiar sites of Panama…in the campo.

Duele El Corazon

Solo en tu boca
Yo quiero acabar
Todos esos besos
Que te quiero dar
A mí no me importa
Que duermas con él
Porque sé que sueñas
Con poderme ver
Mujer qué vas a hacer
Decídete pa’ ver
Si te quedas o te vas
Sino no me busques más

Si te vas yo también me voy
Si me das yo también te doy
Mi amor
Bailamos hasta las diez
Hasta que duelan los pies1

Si te vas yo también me voy
Si me das yo también te doy
Mi amor
Bailamos hasta las diez
Hasta que duelan los pies

Con él te duele el corazón
Y conmigo te duelen los pies
Con él te duele el corazón
Y conmigo te duelen los pies

Solo con un beso
Yo te haría acabar
Ese sufrimiento
Que te hace llorar
A mí no me importa
Que vivas con él
Porque sé que mueres
Con poderme ver
Mujer qué vas a hacer
Decídete pa’ ver
Si te quedas o te vas
Sino no me busques más

Si te vas yo también me voy
Si me das yo también te doy
Mi amor
Bailamos hasta las diez
Hasta que duelan los pies

Si te vas yo también me voy
Si me das yo también te doy
Mi amor
Bailamos hasta las diez
Hasta que duelan los pies

Con él te duele el corazón
Y conmigo te duelen los pies (yeah)
Con él te duele el corazón
Y conmigo te duelen los pies

[Wisin]

Yo quiero acabar
Ese sufrimiento
Que te hace llora

The Heart Hurts

Only in your mouth
I want to finish
All those kisses
That I want to give you
I don’t care
That you sleep with him
Because I know you dream
Seeing me woman what are you going to do, make up your mind to see
If you stay or you go
If you don’t look for me anymore

If you go I’m also going
If you give to me I’ll also give to you, my love
We dance till ten
Until our feet hurt

If you go I’m also going
If you give to me I’ll also give to you, my love
We dance till ten
Until our feet hurt
With him it hurts the heart
And your feet hurt me
With him it hurts the heart
And your feet hurt me

Only with a kiss
I would make you end
This suffering
That makes you cry
I don’t care
That you live with him
Because I know it kills you

Seeing me woman what are you going to do, make up your mind to see
If you stay or you go
If you don’t look for me anymore

If you go I’m also going
If you give to me I’ll also give to you, my love
We dance till ten
Until our feet hurt

If you go I’m also going
If you give to me I’ll also give to you, my love
We dance till ten
Until our feet hurt

With him it hurts the heart
And your feet hurt me
With him it hurts the heart
And your feet hurt me

[Wisin]
Who is the one that takes away the cold
You go with me
We’ll go party with him you cry almost a river
Maybe he gives you money and he has power
But he doesn’t fill your heart it’s empty
But with me the road breaks
Outlaw if there is something in life that doesn’t work
Throw it out
No one slows you down, the super warrior
I know you are a beast go ahead
Throw it out

If you go I’m also going
If you give to me I’ll also give to you, my love
We dance till ten
Until our feet hurt

If you go I’m also going
If you give to me I’ll also give to you, my love
We dance till ten
Until our feet hurt

With him it hurts the heart
And your feet hurt me
With him it hurts the heart
And your feet hurt me

Only with a kiss
I would make you end
This suffering
That makes you cry

I agree with you. A lot of my English was self teaching through R’n’R songs. When I was a kid Enrique’s father was big in Europe and I can remember women like my mom be very fond of him. A little like Sinatra in the states. His name is Julio Iglesias. Check him out

I think this song helps prove my theory that most Spanish songs lament broken hearts. Over and over. 😋

I'd love to hear from you!
