Snapshot Sunday ~ 19/04/2015

We had a fundraising market yesterday so it was another long day for us that began with an early rise shortly after 0500.  I had a few things to finish off for the bake table our group Animal Advocates of Pedasi/Defensores de los Animales de Pedasi; otherwise I might have tried to get away with an extra hour of snoozing before the 0630 meet time.

Near the end of a busy day, when the market was winding down, two young fellows cruised by the town basketball court/community center/everything meeting center to one and all to take a look at the few items remaining.  This young guy immediately zeroed in on this leather jacket and we were happy to sell it to him for $2.00.  I have a feeling that he had scoped out the jacket earlier in the day and returned with his bus driver father hoping that it was still there.  It was, and the price must have been right for papa.  Although the sleeves are a little short on him the now proud owner was thrilled with his purchase and posed for a photo for me, even though his buddy thought it was quite amusing.

Our little “Michael Jackson/Elvis Presley” left the building, hopped on his bicycle and tore up the streets of Pedasi with his amigo in the bright afternoon sunshine as his dad drove off in his bus.   ¡Qué guapo!  What a handsome man…in the campo!

I really like that you and Eric have a life in the community. Very different from Buenaventura.

So sweet and he looks so happy with his purchase!

I think he’s quite the fashion plate. His t shirt even matches shorts. And come to think of it I think his BMX was green too. It will be interesting to see him on his bike around town and see if he’s still wearing his jacket. 🙂

Yes, it’s been a long and tiring couple of weeks with the organization and then execution of two events so close together. And it wouldn’t have been possible without all our Pedasieño peeps bringing their animals to the clinic on Monday or attending the fundraiser yesterday.

And who ever thought that we’d see Panameños lining up an hour (or more) earlier than the start time on both days? 🙂

      • pklainer says:

for Karen: Well, lining up early is not what I usually think of as being part of the culture. 🙂 You’ve clearly made an impact.

I'd love to hear from you!
