Talk Thursday ~ Cycle of Tides

Perhaps this is the most important thing for me to take back from beach-living: simply the memory that each cycle of the tide is valid; each cycle of the wave is valid; each cycle of a relationship is valid.                                                        ~ Anne Morrow Lindbergh ~

We’ve lived near the ocean for almost three years and we’ve discovered that there are certain times of the month when the tide is really low and when it is really high.  We’ve had “Super Tides” when we’ve been warned away from the water and times when the winds, the rain and the tides have changed our beaches considerably.

I always knew that the changing tides had to do with what phase the moon was at and what time of year it was.  This video offers a more in-depth and yet simple explanation of how and why the changes in tide occur.

I always feel a bit smarter when I’ve finished watching a Crash Course video and today’s video was no exception.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I did…in the campo.

I thought it was most interesting. Particularly how the Earth changes shape with the pull of the Moon. Never knew that! 🙂

I'd love to hear from you!
