Weekly Photo Challenge: The Sign Says ~ Signs of Faith

Signs. Funny, poignant, symbolic, incorrect, informative, foreshadowing…there are so many signs in the world.

Corpus Christi is a celebration of the Holy Eucharist, the Roman Catholic sacrament and rite of the transformation of the body and blood of Christ into bread and wine.   Corpus Christi fell on May 30 this year; but on the first Sunday after the feast our local church creates these carpets in the streets surrounding the central square and the church.  They are made of flowers and leaves, salt and sawdust and take all day to make.

At 4:00 there was a mass and a procession around the square to each of the four altars set up in each corner.  The procession destroyed these beautiful carpets and by Monday morning no remnants remained.

These beautifully designed signs are a tribute to Christ and a sign of the faithful.

Love it and love that I have been to that square and can now picture it all so much more clearer.

The creators were working all day in the heat and humidity. That’s a sign of devotion!

Karen, I especially like the posts that show us a bit of your village … classic Panameno with the church and town square and houses all around. Your beach and bird shots are also really great. And Happy Belated Birthday to SU!

Gracias! I’ll pass your wishes on.

I could take pictures of the ocean, the town, the people and the goings on all day. But then who would limpiar la casa? LOL!

Fishing tournament this weekend…wait for it! 🙂

I'd love to hear from you!
